Eidos-Montréal has embarked on a collaborative journey with Playground Games to bring the highly anticipated Fable to life. Nearly two years prior, notable Bloomberg correspondent Jason Schreier shared insights that the then Square Enix-affiliated Eidos-Montréal (famed for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy) had initiated work on a fresh Deus Ex chapter shortly before Embracer Group's acquisition.
Regrettably, the enthusiasm was short-lived as, by the onset of 2024, Schreier disclosed the project's termination and the subsequent dismissal of the involved team, numbering 97 individuals, owing to Embracer's fiscal prudence endeavors. Despite these setbacks, Eidos-Montréal has persevered and is now engaged in an exciting new venture. Through an announcement on X, they've shared insights into their current project, demonstrating a partnership akin to their comrades at Crystal Dynamics, this time uniting with Xbox Game Studios:
"Thrilled to contribute to the development of @Fable! Working alongside the immensely talented crew at @WeArePlayground on crafting this memorable journey has been exhilarating."
It’s been public knowledge for a while that Crystal Dynamics has been collaborating with The Initiative on the eagerly awaited Perfect Dark, much like Fable, both highlighted at the Xbox Games Showcase on a recent Sunday evening.
Anticipated to launch in 2025, Fable's development is believed to benefit significantly from the additional resources provided by Eidos-Montréal, ensuring its timely release while meeting the high expectations of its fanbase. A new trailer is readily available for viewing for those eager to glimpse.
