Baidu Shares its Ernie Generative AI with the Public

Baidu, a Chinese technology company, has released ERNIE Bot, a generative AI product and large language model, for public use. The AI is available on various app stores and Baidu's website and is aimed primarily at the Chinese market. The release allows Baidu to gather additional user feedback and refine the product accordingly. 

ERNIE Bot, first announced in March, has capabilities like summarizing novels and generating images and videos based on text inputs. Since August 15th, Chinese companies requiring to launch generative AI experiences to the public must secure approval from authorities, and Baidu was among the first to receive it. Reportedly, Beijing supports the AI sector while ensuring content control, allowing local companies to compete with international rivals.
