You’ve probably read or heard a hundred different rumors about the next gen Xbox by now. Most of the rumors talked about the new Xbox having no disc drive, and instead require hard memory or online certification for gaming to be enabled after you purchase a game.
According to British trade magazine MCV, the next Xbox console, codenamed “Durango” and guaranteed by GameTaffy to be officially named “Xperience” (must be whispered), will not be shipped with a disc drive.
Although unconfirmed by Microsoft, a recent report revealed that the next generation Microsoft machine will not include a disc drive. Developers were put under “the strictest non disclosure agreement” to protect the news… lol. Microsoft’s only comment regarded their quest to provide equipment that “[defies] the lifecycle convention”.
Other rumors reveal that the system will include some type of removable solid state media drive, likely as a substitute for the media drive. A release date has finally been confirmed for 2013, but their announcement of the system is still in limbo.
Mark Rein, Vice President at Epic Games, has recently revealed that Unreal Engine 4 will be made available in 2012, and had quite the air of confidence about it. (more…)
As if we didn’t have enough hi-definition and up-to-date gadgets in the world already! I am not joking, I saw a commercial in Florida a couple of years ago that offered wall paint, like for a house, that came in hi-def colors. WOW! I can actually paint my house now, thanks for the relief. At least sales should be good for the overpriced paint, right?
A credible source has informed Kotaku of even further details about the rumored Xbox 720.
According to what is being called a “credible source”, Microsoft will be hopping on board with the Blu-Ray wave, as well as launching a new version of the Kinect along with the console release. (more…)
