Ghost Recon: Future Soldier BETA
0As any Ghost Recon fan should know by now, the next title in the series, Future Soldier, is slated for release next month. However, if you’re as anxious as the rest of us, Ubisoft has kindly offered a Beta play period, which is free, that will begin tomorrow. Try it before you buy it!
You must have a Ubisoft account (come on, I know you already have one… yeah I’m staring at all of you Assassin’s Creed players!) but it’s easy and free to create one if you don’t have one already. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier looks like it could be the shooter we’ve all been waiting for, one that doesn’t seem to follow the yearly (and repetitive) standard made by most of the shooter titles out there right now. The game is third-person, and relies on movement and cover (a lot like Gears of War) and a big update to the series will be the Active Camouflage, which will make the Ghost’s much harder to see. However, it only lasts a brief period of time.
Even if you don’t check out the beta, keep eyes peeled for the games release next month, (May 24 for America). Head to the beta and game website here! Check out the trailer while you’re there!
From Dust Coming to Chrome
0Ubisoft’s original god-game, From Dust will be landing a spot in Google Chrome. This news was released via the Facebook fan page, and fans are pretty stoked. The game was well received, with decent reviews from gorgeous graphics, and unique gameplay. It follows an island tribe whose adored god is controlled by the player. The goal is to create a habitable environment for the tribe to survive within. The game will be available for purchase in April.

Earlier this week, the cover art for Assassin’s Creed III was revealed. Supposedly, this will be the final chapter in the Desmond narrative. But only after a few months since the release of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, is Ubisoft giving us too much information before fans have had a chance to play the last game in the franchise?
Assassin’s Creed III Character Reveal
1Ubisoft has officially released the cover art and character for Assassin’s Creed III. The character appears to be a Native American, and the setting will be colonial America. I was hoping for industrial era Britain, but this is much, much better. The implications this reveals for story is quite titillating, especially if the Templars are behind the scenes for the redcoats, trying to take America down; those are the stories we love.
Assassin’s Creed Franchise Comes to a Close in October… Maybe
0Bringing a close to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed 3 has been given an official release date. Ubisoft has announced the title’s release on October 30th of this year. Fans can get ready for what Ubisoft is calling its “biggest launch in… history”.
Assassin’s Creed has maintained a release a year, and the main story line involving Desmond Miles comes to a close in October, but Ubisoft only plans on ending that story arc and slowing development (ie yearly releases) of the franchise. This shows that the developer still plans to create Assassin’s Creed titles in the future. One setting I would like to play the game in is industrial Britain ~1750–Oliver Twist gets revenge!
IMHO: Gaming Trends That Drive Me Crazy (from a 24 year-old geezer) Part II
0Some of you may have read my rant from last week, but some of you may be new. So, I’ll quickly recap what this is all about. When I was a kid, the video game industry was very different than the money-making behemoth it is today. This editorial highlights certain points of video game design and trends within video gamers themselves that I simply can’t stand. Whether that is because I cling to outdated formulas, I think I know best, or I’m just stupid, I’ll leave up to you. (more…)
