IMHO: Getting the Most Out of Skyrim
0Remember that classic “Skyrim” game from way back in the Fall of 2011? It was quite a hit back in its day, and with so much to do in a massive game, it was difficult to orient the direction of the main hero. Well, we here at GameTaffy pulled out our copies from their dust laden tombs for a replay and suggestions for our happy readers on how to get the most out of Skyrim.
Know Where You Want to Go
Diversity will be key on a second play-through of Skyrim; it would be boring to do the same thing twice. Get out of a comfort zone and shoot for being a thief or dark mage this time around instead of a warrior. It is a good idea to pick a new direction and focus the hero’s attributes based on that selection. The best way to focus a hero in Skyrim is to decide on an end result and let that guide his direction.
iOS Receiving Mass Effect: Infiltrator
0EA has just announced release of a Mass Effect IP for the iOS. The game sends players on a rescue mission to release Cerberus bound captives from the shady organization’s clutches. This ties into a reward system that will actually affect players’ games in the console release of Mass Effect 3. EA states, ”Every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player’s Galactic Readiness rating directly through the ‘Galaxy at War’ system in Mass Effect 3.” The Galaxy at War system has to do with the game’s multiplayer system.
EPIC MICKEY 2 Leaked
0In a leaked and deleted Disney newsletter, Epic Mickey 2 has been announced. There’s no surprise about a successful game getting a sequel. In fact, most knew that production on EM2 was in full swing.
What is surprising are the details in the promotional newsletter:
A 2011 Gamer Chronology
22011 was an amazing gaming year. Each month was a new experience, and as the year progressed, so did the quality of the games that were released. Here is a synopsis of my year in gaming: 2011.

4Top 5 Reasons to Play a Woman Character

K-Train’s Top 10 Christmases in Gaming
9Merry Christmas! This month, I will be detailing the top ten Christmases I have had in gaming. The posts will be out every other day, so stay tuned.
10- Virtual Boy
Despite what critics have ranted about the virtual boy, as a 10 year old gamer, I thought it was pretty cool. I spent most of my time on Red Alarm and Mario Tennis and the rest recovering with a chiropractor. My non-ergonomic Virtual Boy is still boxed up in the basement, wrapped up in all its duct-taped glory.
9- Super Mario Galaxy 2.
For GameTaffy readers who have read any of my articles, they ought to know that I am no
t a fan of the Wii when it comes to casual gaming. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a great
game, but not one that caught my attention or (more…)
Kojima’s Top-Secret Game is Open World
0
Hideo Kojima’s work is among the best in the gaming community. The Metal Gear series consistently delivers quality releases. The latest news on Kojima’s top-secret project is that it will combine the quality of Kojima’s work and an open world dynamic which will make for an innovative creation from developers who generally drive linear storylines.
Japanese-made games have taken a dive in recent years on account of the rise of gaming in Western cultures who appeal more to open world gaming where choice narrates the direction of the game, so news of a Japanese-made open world game is very exciting.
Eastern developers are beginning to respond to this trend as is evident in FFXIII-2, in which the developers responded to fan’s complaints about the linear (more…)
Sony’s Biggest Hurdles
2
In review of 2011, Sony had an okay year among core gamers. The PS3 came out with several exclusive titles that were a success in the market, but Sony has a few problems. So what hurdles keep Sony from hitting the success that other companies have made?
The only people who seem to be interested in Sony’s products are core gamers because there just isn’t anything that has been released that even applies to a broader audience other than LittleBigPlanet. Sony has outlined their plans for hitting a younger audience beginning early 2012, but releasing something for the Move or a few kid’s games isn’t going to be enough. Xbox and Wii equipment have already ensured that. Those two companies already possess a popularity that the Move will never achieve. What Sony needs is something exclusive and original. Wii gave us the motion control, so forget that. Microsoft gave us the Kinect, so forget that too. Sony needs to give consumers something they can’t get anywhere else and something that works.
