Lee Perry, the team lead for Epic Games’ recently revealed “Fortnite”, tweeted some interesting details for the game.  Many people have pointed out the similarities between Fortnite and Mojang’s Minecraft.  Perry revealed the following information via Twitter yesterday:

“…Minecraft let’s you build ANYTHING, we are focusing on constructing ‘buildings’ specifically.”

“#fortnite and it stands to reason if you can build a world, anything can be destroyed. That’s about all I’m tossing out there for now :) ”

“I see lots of questions asking if #fortnite is freeform construction. It is. It’s not scripted or just boarding up existing structures.”

“You can thank @notch for some of the new followers.” haha, I thank him every day :) . #Minecraft was an inspiration for sure.”

So Minecraft was an inspiration, and apparently Perry has an in with notch.
