Jeremy McGrath Donates to Be the Match
After discovering that his wife Kim received her needed bone-marrow transplant, Jeremy McGrath decided to give back to Be the Match by donating all his profits from Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad, now available on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
2 years ago, Kim McGrath survived breast cancer. Last May, she was diagnosed with Leukemia and had to undergo chemotherapy. While undergoing treatment, Jeremy McGrath began working towards fundraisers and marrow drives, testing more than 4,000 people for inclusion within the Registry and raising more than a quarter-million dollars.
“First, thank you again to everyone who has helped, donated, gotten tested and sent well-wishes to our family. Your responses to my initial call to action have been incredible and the support and love just seems to continue to pour in,” said Jeremy McGrath. “The fact that Kim found a match is really great news for us, but it is our hope that people will still get tested and join the Be the Match Registry. I would also ask that companies that have charitable donation programs and those in the position to do something, please think about making a donation to Be The Match at any time throughout the year. This organization provides a service that literally saves lives every day of the year…it’s pretty amazing.”
To keep support up for Be the Match, Jeremy McGrath promised to donate his portion of the profits from Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad. Last year, Matt Lewis, creator of Video Game Reunion, was diagnosed with Leukemia and needed a bone-marrow transplant. While the VGR Facebook page suggests a second season to the show, no word was found as to Lewis’ well being.
Once upon a time, bone-marrow transplants were invasive and painful. Today, the process is virtually pain-free, and most donors are able to leave the hospital the same day. Click the link above for more information, or pick up Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad today to help.
