As you can see with this image, Renegade X looks pretty.

Did you enjoy Command & Conquer: Renegade? Were you one of the people who contributed to its 8.6 rating on Metacritic? Well, you are in luck, then. Renegade X: Black Dawn is a spiritual successor to Command & Conquer: Renegade.

Renegade X started out as a mod for Unreal Tournament 3 in 2009. The mod received good reviews and widespread attention. However, as of the 28th, Renegade X is a standalone title, complete with a mini single-player campaign. But that’s not all, folks. Totem Arts, the development team behind Renegade X, plans to launch a multiplayer beta sometime in the future, as “the release date of the final multiplayer version is still to be announced.”

Renegade X will prepare you for the forthcoming multiplayer experience by introducing you to various weapons, vehicles, and game mechanics during a 10-part single-player campaign. The best part? It’s totally free! You can’t really beat free.

If server issues are any indication of how much attention this game is getting, Totem Arts was not prepared for the number of interested people. I couldn’t find a server that would respond to my download request. In fact, one server was down due to heavy traffic.

Check out a video on the Totem Arts site for more info.
